Masterson’s Pub , located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , brands itself as a fashionable, contemporary hangout, but my latest trip at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may present a friendly façade, what I experienced behind its threshold was disturbing and far below any standard .
The State of Affairs: Squalid and Abandoned
From the moment I walked in , it was evident that cleanliness was not a priority at this bar . The surfaces were tacky , and a pungent odor of decaying beverages and uncleaned toilets polluted the entire establishment . With a smell of a mixture of urine , a rotting odor and illness . The bar area , which should be the primary feature of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and litter that looked like it had been ignored for a long time . The restroom was in even a more revolting state — spilling over , with a cracked flush mechanism and walls stained in what I can only assume was human excrement .
It wasn’t just a isolated occurrence either. Based on the experiences shared online and chatting with the community, it seems that the state of cleanliness (or lack thereof) at this so-called establishment is a recurring blog link complaint. Many visitors have reported spotting critters darting across the drink station and proof of vermin in the basement . During my time there, I saw how uneasy several women seemed around Cornwell. As I dug deeper , I was alarmed to find accusations against him involving inappropriate advances, with multiple women citing incidents of distributing inappropriate messages . Described as overly aggressive and inappropriate , his behavior has created an intimidating space for women who attend Masterson’s. His presence at the bar often felt more like that of a sweating predator than a friendly owner .

Pete’s wife, Gillian , is a co-manager and frequently seen managing operations . Instead of stepping in to curb the damage done by her husband’s a post actions, she appears to condone his behavior.
